My confusion comes from the sensor's datasheet where the power supply (absolute max ratings) allow for 2.7 V to 3.3 V. This is great as the MSP430 is powered at 3.3 V as well. However, the I2C signals for the sensor specify that they are typically pulled up to 1.8 V.

Two is the device layer (in this case, the pcf8574 pinout). Three is the LCD layer, the specifics on how to address the LCD. Once you have the i2c layer working, the rest is simple. – Passerby.

I have a Slave connected to SDA/SCL line of the Microcontroller with the Address: 0xE0 (the last Bit of the address is the Write Bit which needs to be set to 0).
