May 17, 2012 · Peters remarks are quite correct. Proper MG parts are best, cheaper long term, but if money is really tight then you might get a cheap motor from a leyland marina. This motor has cast crank, not forged, a few other small differences but is otherwise essentially the same motor in a car nobody wants, BL at their worst, so a very cheap MG motor.

Excellent torque figures ( turning force,) as well, 40 lb/ft to 80 lb/ft, this gives a better picture as it is this mid range power which is used for acceleration and top gear performance.

Oct 22, 2017 · It is not at all unusual for a battery to be able to make the headlights bright, and to read 12V, but to be no good, even if it was stored on a tender (BTDT). Using a battery that you know spins another motor just fine is a good way to rule that out, and a pair of jumper cables makes that pretty easy to try. N

Jul 1, 2021 · Just reading the shop manual in my shop and I don't quite understand how one "withdraws" the drive cable from it's sheath from the motor end, and then reinserts it to engage the 3 wiper drive gear boxes. Clearly, the motor also has to come out, which is not difficult and also will need lubricating. They system works, just very, very slowly.

Oct 16, 2015 · It takes a little patience, but removal and replacement of the wiper motor with inner cable attached is not a big deal. Remove the wiper arms- pull out, repair motor, and push and rotate the cable back through the tubes and wheel boxes. Do not loosen any of the tubes or wheel boxes and it will slide back through quite easily.
