Star Trek uniforms - Wikipedia
Star Trek uniforms are costumes worn by actors portraying personnel of a fictitious Starfleet in various television series and films in the Star Trek science fiction franchise. During the various series, the costume design has often changed to represent different time periods and for reasons of appearance and comfort.

The Starfleet uniforms worn during The Original Series were designed by William Ware Theiss, who returned to design the Star Trek: The Next Generation uniforms (which were further adapted into future versions in DS9, VOY and the TNG-era films by Robert Blackman).

In the 2290s, flag officers wore service ribbons on the left breast of the jacket, below the Starfleet insignia. These ribbons varied in color and position, and likely indicated different commendations and awards received by the officers for their service in Starfleet.

In 2384, the Picard-style uniform absolutely exists, used by Admiral Picard and Starfleet divisions assigned to the Beta Quadrant where he and Raffi are involved in the Romulan evacuation negotiation efforts. Over time, we'll see it roll out more widely elsewhere in Starfleet.

The bomber jacket was worn by Fleet Admiral Morrow in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, by Captain Montgomery Scott in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, and by Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.

Like William Ware Theiss’ other TNG-era uniforms, his season 1 admiral uniforms were made of jumbo spandex, using the dull side as the “right” side. The neckline and front edge of the diagonal panel were accented gold trim. This trim was approximately ¼” wide and surprisingly similar to standard retail trims still available today.
