Sierra residents above 8,000 feet can expect to see snow as California sees early winter advisories this week. Here's when Stockton may see rain.

An early-season storm system moved across California Monday into Tuesday, frosting the highest peaks of California's Sierra Nevada with light snow.

"We're looking at up to 4 inches above 8,000 in the Sierra Nevada," said Bryan Jackson, a forecaster with the weather service's Weather Prediction Center.

A low pressure system moving into the West Coast today will bring rare early-season snow and rain to California through Monday.

California residents near the Sierra Nevada, above 8,000 feet, can expect to see snow as the mountains could receive snow twice this week.

Summer isn't over yet, but parts of Northern California had an early taste of fall with scattered showers and the possibility of snow in the Sierra Foothills.
