Border 79 Fire initially started 10:52 a.m. Dec. 10 in San Diego County. Since its discovery 22 hours ago, it has burned 38.2 acres. 70% of the fire was brought under containment by a fire crew of 37 by Wednesday morning. However, the cause is still being investigated.

San Diego Supervisors learned a key lesson Tuesday: Their fire chief can impose stricter fire safety rules on battery storage projects without their blessing.
