Fresh cucumbers are the latest food safety recall. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration are warning consumers to check their counters and refrigerators for whole fresh American cucumbers after at least 68 people in 19 states became sick from salmonella.

Over the weekend, the threat of salmonella triggered the recall of 10,000 cartons of organic eggs sold at Costco and whole cucumbers sold in 28 states.

A North Carolina dog food company has voluntarily recalled 9,600 pounds of dog food due to potential salmonella contamination, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration announced Monday. The product,

(CNN) - Blue Ridge Beef has issued a voluntary recall for some of its dog food due to salmonella contamination. The recall is for the company’s two-pound puppy mix. According to the Food and Drug Administration, the products were distributed between August 6 and August 23.

“Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting,” according to the FDA. “Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans.”
