ATLANTA — The U.S. Department of Energy announced that Rivian is set to receive a nearly $6.6 billion loan to construct its Project Horizon manufacturing facility in Georgia. The proposed loan would be a combined $5.975 billion of principal and $592 million in capital interest, according to a news release on Tuesday.

Rivian has secured conditional approval of a loan of up to $6.6 billion from the U.S. Department of Energy to build a production facility in Georgia – as long as the company won't actively oppose union organizing efforts.

The loan would be secured by Rivian’s facility at its Stanton Springs site and its fixed assets and guarantees by the parent company.
