TAMPA, Fla. — FEMA has extended the deadline to apply for assistance for Floridians impacted by hurricanes Helene and Milton. The deadline to receive FEMA financial assistance for displacement, basic home repairs, personal property losses and other uninsured or underinsured disaster-caused expenses, is Jan. 7.

Homeowners and renters may be able to get help for displacement, home repairs, property losses, and other uninsured or underinsured expenses, according to a news release. If you had damage from Helene and Milton, you must apply separately for both and include the dates of the damage for each.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has extended the deadline to apply for assistance after Hurricanes Milton and Helene until Jan. 7. Homeowners and renters with losses from Hurricanes Milton and Helene may be eligible for FEMA financial assistance for displacement,

FEMA specialists are available to meet one-on-one with residents in southern Sarasota County this week. An intake center opened up Monday morning at the Venice Community Center. This pop up location opening comes on the same day FEMA announced an extension to its application deadline.

With one week left before the deadline, FEMA is advising residents to apply for assistance after Hurricane Helene. December 2 is the last day for anyone in Virginia affected by Hurricane Helene to apply for FEMA assistance.
