NBC is preparing for a new era in 2025 as the network says goodbye to beloved anchor Hoda Kotb. And Jenna Bush Hager is getting a new show and co-host as a result. Kotb, 60, announced she would be stepping away from the "Today" show on Sept. 26.

Melvin, an NBC News veteran of almost 14 years, will take the anchor chair in January, a week before Hoda Kotb’s final appearance as co-host.

Veteran NBC host and news anchor Craig Melvin has been tapped to replace Hoda Kotb as co-host of the 7 a_m_ to 9 a_m_ hours of “Today.”

Craig Melvin has been tapped as the replacement for Hoda Kotb on NBC’s veteran Today show beginning on January 13, 2025 (following Hoda's last day on Friday, January 10).

Craig Melvin, who has served as the de facto third co-anchor for the show for years, typically joining Kotb and co-anchor Savannah Guthrie at the anchor desk after the first half hour, though his name is not in the open and he is only typically introduced on-air briefly, will take over Jan. 13, 2024.

Craig Melvin will become the new co-anchor of NBC’s Today, following the departure of Hoda Kotb in January. The announcement was made on this morning’s broadcast. Kotb’s final day on the show will be on Jan.
