Indian benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex ended the previous trade session in the red. Nifty 50 closed at 23,914.15, while Sensex ended at 79,043.74.

The Nifty 50 ended the session with a gain of 0.91%, closing at 24,131, while the Sensex rallied by 0.91%, finishing at 79,760. However, the broader markets underperformed the benchmark indices.

The two key equity benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, on Friday rebounded following buying in frontline stocks Bharti Airtel and Reliance Industries. The Sensex rallied 759 points, while Nifty closed above 24,

SBI Life, HDFC Life, and M&M fell up to 5 per cent on NSE. Among sectors, Nifty IT, Nifty Auto and Nifty Financial Services bled the most. The BSE SmallCap index surged 0.41 per cent, while the BSE MidCap ended marginally lower by 0.06 per cent.

According to the exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold equities amounting to Rs 11,756.25 crore and Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought equities amounting to Rs 8,718.30 crore respectively on the previous trading day.
