For the third time since becoming North Carolina’s athletics director in November 2011, Bubba Cunningham has a head football coaching opening ... before he agreed to return to UNC, where he’d first been the Tar Heels head coach from 1988-1997.

Brown as recently as Monday said he planned to return next season, but Bubba Cunningham, the UNC athletic director, informed Brown later Monday that “he will not return as head coach.”

In an appearance on the Tar Heel Sports Network, Athletic Director Bubba Cunningham answered questions about the dismissal of football coach Mack Brown on Tuesday.
