The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is set to win the Maharashtra elections. The alliance has crossed the majority mark of 145 seats. Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena faction is leading on 55 seats. The BJP contested on 148 seats.

Shinde is locked in a Sena vs Sena battle against Shiv Sena (UBT)'s candidate Kedar Dighe. Kedar Dighe is the nephew of Shinde's political guru and Shiv Sena leader Anand Dighe.

Eknath Shinde started his political journey in in Thane. He retained Kopri-Pachpakhadi assembly for three consecutive terms in 2009, 2014, and 2019.
