A suspect was shot dead by police in downtown San Diego Tuesday night after gunfire erupted near an MTS Trolley platform, the San Diego County Sheriff's Office confirmed.

San Diego Police Department officers responded at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday to 600 W. Broadway regarding a battery report. As they were investigating the call, they learned of a shooting at the MTS trolley platform that took place at 8:51 p.
