HUNDREDS OF ANTI-IMMIGRATION protesters are staging a sit-down protest on O’Connell Bridge and there is a policing operation currently ongoing. The protesters gathered outside the GPO earlier and then made their way to Leinster House.

At least six people have been arrested as gardaí cleared protesters off O'Connell Bridge in Dublin city centre this afternoon.

Hundreds gathered on Dublin's O'Connell street yesterday for protests and were met by dozens of uniformed gardaí.

The protestors have begun a sit-down protest on O'Connell Bridge and the Garda Public Order Unit is at the scene.

Several people are due to appear before courts in Dublin on Friday following Thursday's anti-immigration protest and anti-racism counter-protest.

Some 19 arrests were made across the day and Garda public order units deployed as Irish flag-waving protesters objecting to Government immigration

A total of 19 people were arrested today as anti-immigration protesters blocked the O’Connell Bridge in central Dublin leading to travel chaos for commuters. The protesters had marched from the Dáil where anti-immigration and rival anti-racism protests took place.

Gardaí were required to respond to a number of public order incidents in Dublin during the anti-immigration protest and anti-racism counter-protest on Thursday, September 19.
