The U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C. — Ed Martin, who was appointed by President Donald Trump — has launched an inquiry into a critical comment Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Long Beach, recently made about Elon Musk.

Rep. Robert Garcia has run afoul of Elon Musk and, by extension, the Department of Justice. The Democratic congressman shared a letter from interim U.S. Attorney for D.C. Ed Martin that revealed he's the target of an “inquiry” thanks to his disparaging comments about the billionaire.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Democrats are launching a probe into Elon Musk’s status as a government employee, citing conflicting statements about his role in the Trump administration and power over the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
