Virginia cancels voter registration when people said they are noncitizens on motor vehicle forms, but a judge halted the program close to the election

Political analysts are reminding voters of a Virginia 'fail-safe' following the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to allow the purging of roughly 1,600 names off of the state's voter rolls.

And some litigation is already underway—with two cases so far having reached the Supreme Court. A case from Pennsylvania is still pending, but on Wednesday, the Court handed down an order in a case from Virginia.
