Sheila Chepkirui took the tape Sunday morning in the women’s New York City Marathon, and she did it in the most stunning of fashions: outkicking Hellen Obiri and slamming the door on Obiri’s legendary past two years.

New York City shut down this morning, turning over its streets to more than 50,000 people attempting to run the annual New York City Marathon, with thousands more lining the route to cheer runners on.

Nageeye, the Tokyo Olympic silver medalist, edged Kenyan Evans Chebet, 2:07:39 to 2:07:45, to become the first Dutch runner to win New York City. Nageeye, 35, finished fourth, third and fifth in the last three New York City Marathons.
