The Food and Drug Administration OK'd 10 Zyn flavors, including coffee, mint and menthol. It's the first time regulators have authorized sales of nicotine pouches, which are the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. tobacco market.

The FDA authorized the marketing of 20 different Zyn nicotine pouch products -- the first brand to clear this regulatory hurdle in the increasingly popular class of single-use sachets of flavored nicotine designed to be placed between the lip and gums,

Nicotine pouches are a newer class of smokeless products that don’t contain tobacco. Zyn became the first FDA-authorized brand on Jan. 16.

The newest nicotine product comes in multiple different flavors and is growing in popularity among teenagers. Zen is *** tiny pouch full of nicotine that you put inside your gums. The process is similar.

New Jersey has considered legislation that would ban the sale of smoke free nicotine pouches, following in the footsteps of some vape products.

But back in January of last year, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Shumer called for the government to take a long, hard look at Zyn and asked for the FTC and the FDA to investigate the marketing of the nicotine pouches and their health effects. So the FTC and FDA did just that, and I’d imagine Chuck Shumer isn’t happy with how the investigation went.

The FDA said "an extensive scientific review" found the products were found to pose lower risks of cancer and other serious health conditions compared to cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products.

Marketing for the popular nicotine pouch product, Zyn, has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to help smokers quit cigarettes and other tobacco products.

Little pouches of nicotine sold by the brand ZYN were given the green light for marketing this week through the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s premarket tobacco product application (PMTA) pathway.
