Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced that a fire management crew has been dispatched to California to help battle the devastating wildfires.

A nine-person fire management team from the ODNR left Columbus Friday to help with wildfires in Beaumont, California.

The crew is expected to begin work Monday. California fire managers requested their help for 14 days. A typical daily shift lasts between 14 to 16 hours. “Our fire management crews train year-round to be prepared to step up when called upon,” ODNR Director Mary Mertz said in the statement.
