PHILADELPHIA — It was an early-season storyline that stuck in John Tortorella’s craw. Desperately searching for chemistry among his forwards, the Flyers coach wasn’t just placing them in the proverbial blender, but it seemed as if he was actively attempting to use every combination mathematically possible.
Cates scored twice in the Flyers' comeback win over the defending Cup champion Panthers, continuing his ascent into a greater role for the team up the middle.
