On Monday, the Texas Rangers announced the creation of Rangers Sports Network (RSN). The company will produce and distribute all of the team's television broadcasts for the upcoming season. Distribution is the keyword as local stations will vie for a chance to snag the Rangers' local TV rights.

The Texas Rangers, who have more than 16 million households in their broadcast territory, have created a new company to oversee production and distribution of their game broadcasts, unveiling on Monday the Rangers Sports Media & Entertainment Company.

It’s all about the “R.” What used to stand for “regional” in the RSN acronym now stands for “Rangers,” as in “Rangers Sports Network,” the newly created media venture that will produce and distribute the team’s games and potentially other content.
