Ukraine needs more military assistance now. Discussions about what the peace process should look like from the allies are not a priority, according to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Rutte commented on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's statement about NATO's umbrella for part of Ukraine's territories to end the hot phase of the war.

Zelenskyy said a NATO invitation must recognize all of Ukraine's territory as its own, but Article 5 need not apply to areas captured by Russia.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that if Ukraine joined NATO during the war, Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which provides for collective protection, may not apply to its entire territory.
