The newly elected Chairman of the ICC, Jay Shah has vowed to keep Test cricket as the pinnacle of the game under his tenure and also promised to work on the development of women's cricket.

Shah’s selection as chairman was unanimous by the ICC’s Board of Directors, and he replaces Greg Barclay, the New Zealand lawyer, who decided not to seek a third consecutive term.

Before Shah, businessman late Jagmohan Dalmiya, politician Sharad Pawar, lawyer Shashank Manohar and industrialist N Srinivasan had all headed the world cricket body.

Jay Shah embarked on a new role in his career as a cricket administrator after taking over as the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) following a successful stint as BCCI secretary, a position he took up after the shake-up of the Indian board on the recommendations of the Supreme Court-appointed Justice Lodha committee.

Jay Shah took over from Greg Barclay as the new ICC chairman. His first major assignment will be to clear the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy chaos.
