How do NVIDIA’s RTX 5000 GPUs perform without DLSS? We just got our first look.
NVIDIA revealed new info surrounding its upcoming RTX 5000 GPUs, including non-DLSS performance. NVIDIA had one of the biggest announcements out of CES 2025, revealing its new 50-series RTX graphics cards. The new GPUs came with some bold claims, including RTX 5070 performance that could match the RTX 4090's power for a fraction of the price.

Nvidia has provided some more concrete performance estimates for its upcoming RTX 50-series graphics cards without DLSS turned on.

That's where DLSS 4 comes in. With the latest iteration of Nvidia's frame generation technology, you'll be able to game in 4K with frame rates over 200 fps. Of course, you're relying on software performance to generate all of those additional frames rather than pure silicon, and not all games offer DLSS 4 support.

Despite push back from some gamers, DLSS is proving popular with graphics card owners that have it as an option, according to Nvidia.

Nvidia says its new frame generation model is 40 percent faster and uses 30 percent less VRAM than the old one. By replacing the old Convolutional Neural Networks with its new transformer model, the claim is that generated pixels will have less ghosting, more detail, and more stability in a scene for a clearer picture overall.
