Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday referring to the arrest of ISKCON monk in Bangladesh at state Assembly said she will follow the Central government’s stand and cannot interfere in another country’s affair.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee condemns any violence linked to religion and expresses her sorrow over attacks on minorities in Bangladesh. She urges the Centre to resolve the issue through dialogue with Bangladesh and supports coexistence and harmony among various religions.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will adhere to the central government's policies concerning the developments in Bangladesh and has condemned the atrocities on people of any religion. Political parties in India have urged the Modi government to intervene following attacks on Hindus and the arrest of Iskcon monk Chinmoy Krishna Das.

Kolkata: Condemning the WAQF Amendment bill, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday had stated that the amendment would snatch the rights of Muslims. Talking at the state Assembly, Mamata said that she will protest if the rights of Muslims are taken away.

Mamata Banerjee acknowledged that she talked to ISKCON in Bengal but this matter does not lie within her jurisdiction.

Mamata Banerjee clarified that the Bangladesh issue was for the central government to address and Bengal government would abide by its decision.
