Just as movie stars started to arrive on the red carpet in Hollywood for the 97th Academy Awards, another sort of exciting arrival was underway on a "stick carpet" high in a Jefferson pine tree near Big Bear Lake: A pip has been detected in one of Jackie and Shadow's three eggs.

Bald eagle eggs typically hatch after 35 days of incubation, according to the East Tennessee State University. But Jackie and Shadow’s eggs will likely hatch after 38 to 39 days, or longer, since they have three eggs to tend to, the nonprofit said in the post.
