If Carr isn’t able to prove he is ready to return, then it will be rookie Spencer Rattler who will get his fifth start of the season. Though the Saints have no won with Rattler at QB, including Monday becoming the only team in the NFL to be shut out.

The New Orleans Saints are looking for a new head coach and have a decision to make at QB even though Derek Carr is under contract for another season. One NFL writer believes they will look to the NFL Draft to replace him.

New Orleans Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzi said Tuesday he is hopeful that veteran quarterback Derek Carr can return to action against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday at the Superdome.

Derek Carr didn’t receive good news on his fractured hand in a recent checkup. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the New Orleans Saints quarterback is “at least a few weeks away from being able to withstand contact” after breaking his non-throwing hand in two places.

The Saints sit with a less than one percent chance of making the postseason, and the team will surely be preparing for 2025 over the next few weeks. Still, Carr could work his way back to the field, with Loomis declaring that his squad was going to “try to win every game.”
