Hamas handed to the Red Cross the remains of four Israelis it had taken hostage in Oct. 2023 — a young mother, her two small children and a man in his 80s — as the shaky Gaza truce stumbled ahead.

Hamas said it would release three living hostages ahead of schedule on Saturday as Israel agreed to begin negotiations to permanently end the war in Gaza.

Hamas has revealed when it will release the remaining Israeli hostages from Gaza under the first phase of the ceasefire deal with Israel. Eight of them have already died in captivity. BBC correspondent Mark Lowen reports.
