Vietnam is preparing for more flooding with a tropical depression forecast to strengthen into a storm as it heads to its central coast, days after typhoon Yagi set off floods and landslides that killed more than 290 people in the north.

A decade-old picture of a Philippine city flattened by Typhoon Haiyan, one of the strongest storms ever recorded, has resurfaced in social media posts that falsely portrayed it as showing the damage caused by Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam.

Typhoon Yagi, Asia’s most powerful storm this year, has left dozens dead since sweeping across southern China and Southeast Asia last week, leaving a trail of destruction with its intense rainfall and powerful winds.
