The director of 'Blue Velvet,' 'Twin Peaks' and 'Mulholland Drive' died aged 78. "I loved him so much," said 'Blue Velvet' star Isabella Rossellini.

David Lynch revolutionized cinema — and now, Hollywood is paying tribute to the legendary auteur, who died Thursday at the age of 78.

Isabella Rossellini, who had her breakout role in David Lynch’s “Blue Velvet” and went on to date the man for five years, paid tribute to the late director following his death. “I loved him so much. Thanks for all your kind messages,” Rossellini wrote on Instagram on Friday morning, posting a photo of her with Lynch.

I will miss him more than the limits of my language can tell and my heart can bear. My world is that much fuller because I knew him and that much emptier now that he’s gone.”
