A handwritten letter that John Lennon wrote to Eric Clapton inviting him to be part of a new supergroup is to be offered at auction next month.

John Lennon once sent an imploring invitation to Eric Clapton to join what Lennon called a "nucleus" musical supergroup.

John Lennon's 1971 draft letter requesting Eric Clapton form a new supergroup with him is expected to fetch €100,000 and €150,000 at auction. The late Beatles legend penned in the eight-page note that he was keen to recruit the 79-year-old guitar hero for a new musical project alongside Klaus Voormann,

The eight-page draft letter features John Lennon urging Eric Clapton to join a new band he was putting together.

Lennon retained this copy of the letter and the exact contents of the final version sent to Clapton are unknown. (If all of this sounds vaguely familiar, the same letter was put up for auction in Los Angeles in 2012.
