The House of Representatives passed a spending bill Tuesday to fund the government through the end of September and avert a government shutdown at the end of the week. The bill now heads to the Senate.

Once approved, the bill will go to the Senate where it needs at least eight Senate Democrats to get it to President Trump’s desk.

Lawmakers are battling time as they seek to pass legislation that will fund the government and avert a possible shutdown set to take effect Friday.
