For years, red light camera fees have been a source of frustration for drivers in Nassau County, with many calling the charges excessive and unfair. Now, lawmakers are proposing legislation to address these concerns.

Drivers issued red-light camera tickets in Nassau no longer will have to pay a $45 public safety fee and $55 driver responsibility fee, a county spokesman confirmed.

Nassau County Democrats proposed legislation that would allow people to get a refund if they paid unconstitutional fees on red-light camera tickets.
