US: Federal Reserve Governor Michelle Bowman will speak at the Annual Symposium on Building the Financial System of the 21st Century — 4:45 a.m. Rupee appreciated 5 paise to close higher at 84.45 against the US dollar. It opened flat at 84.49 on Friday. The Indian unit closed at 84.50 on Thursday, according to data on Bloomberg.

Within the Nifty index, Mahindra and Mahindra, Coal India, Wipro, Kotak Bank and Tech Mahindra were among the top gainers. On the other hand, Cipla, ONGC, Tata Consumer, Bharti Airtel and UltraTech Cement were among the top losers.

Indian benchmark indices experienced significant volatility in today’s session, as a rebound in Adani Group stocks was offset by weak performances from heavyweights, leading to wide fluctuations throughout the day.

Indian equity benchmark indices, BSE Sensex and Nifty50, opened flat in trade on Wednesday. While BSE Sensex was above 80,000, Nifty50 was near 24,180.

The Nifty 50 ended the session with a modest drop of 0.11%, closing at 24,194 points, while the Sensex also posted a slight loss of 0.13%, settling at 80,004 points.
