Indian equity benchmark indices, BSE Sensex and Nifty50, opened flat in trade on Wednesday. While BSE Sensex was above 80,000, Nifty50 was near 24,180.

Within the Nifty index, Mahindra and Mahindra, Coal India, Wipro, Kotak Bank and Tech Mahindra were among the top gainers. On the other hand, Cipla, ONGC, Tata Consumer, Bharti Airtel and UltraTech Cement were among the top losers.

The BSE Sensex today opened upside at 80,193 and touched an intraday high of 80,452 in early morning deals, logging an intraday rise of 1,355 points. Likewise, the Nifty Bank index opened higher at 52,046 and touched an intraday high of 52,232 during the Opening Bell, logging an intraday rally of around 1,100 points.

The 30-share Sensex fell 105.79 points or 0.13 per cent, settling at 80,004.06. During trading, it dropped 311.18 points or 0.38 per cent to 79,798.67. The NSE Nifty decreased by 27.40 points or 0.11 per cent to 24,

The Nifty 50 ended the session with a modest drop of 0.11%, closing at 24,194 points, while the Sensex also posted a slight loss of 0.13%, settling at 80,004 points.
