McLaren is ahead of Red Bull in the Formula 1 constructors’ race. Now for Lando Norris to put pressure on Max Verstappen for the drivers’ title.

Lando Norris was fastest in the second Formula 1 practice session at the Singapore Grand Prix, maintaining a tight battle with Charles Leclerc at the top of the timing boards. Norris led the way with a 1m30.

With Ferrari, Mercedes pushing hard, McLaren will still have to battle at a track where Red Bull is off the pace and Verstappen has never won.

For Lando Norris to only gain three points on Max Verstappen in the Formula One championship fight may have been met with disappointment going into the Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend. All the momentum has been with Norris and McLaren, making what once seemed like a long shot for the title look more realistic as Verstappen’s points lead ebbed away.

F1 betting sites go 7/4 on Norris capturing his first championship this year and that price could be cut if he manages to keep his cool in the humid head of Singapore.

Lando Norris insists he is still the driver with "nothing to lose" in his Formula 1 title fight with Max Verstappen. While slowly reeling in Verstappen in the drivers' championship, Norris has not taken full advantage of the drop-off in pace of the Red Bull in recent races.
