Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) threatened to pull funding from Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine after a doctor said on TikTok that patients don’t have to disclose their immigration status.

A doctor spoke out in a TikTok against the executive order requiring Texas public hospitals to collect information about undocumented immigrants.

An executive order issued by Abbott earlier this year directed Texas hospitals to ask patients if they are U.S. citizens, and begin collecting information about those who are not. The order, however does not specifically mandate patients to answer the question.
