The day of the fight over planting a flag on a rival's logo tricked into night in Tallahassee. Florida drilled Florida State, 31-11, and after the game the victors wanted to plant the Gator flag at midfield of the Seminoles' field.

As Florida State saw its season come mercilessly to an end, several Gators players took it upon themselves to plant their team's flag at midfield following the road win in Tallahassee. As expected, the Seminoles didn't take too kindly to the gesture,
