David Tennant and Toby Jones to star in ITV drama about phone hacking scandal - Seven-part series The Hack interweaves two real-life stories.

Tennant takes on the role of real-life investigative journalist Nick Davies, who uncovered evidence of phone hacking at Rupert Murdoch’s News of the World. The scandal led to the closure of the newspaper and the imprisonment of its ex-editor Andy Coulson.

ITV has officially announced its drama about the U.K.’s phone-hacking scandal and investigation, a seven-part series now entitled “The Hack” and written by multi award-winner Jack Thorne. The unveiling of the first look from “The Hack” - which shot last year - comes just a week after the hacking controversy concerning Rupert Murdoch’s U.
