Colman Domingo is having a great 24 hours. Just one day after being named the Gotham Award winner for “Sing Sing” in the Outstanding Lead Performance category, he has been feted by the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) to receive the Montecito Award at their 40th annual awards gala.

Colman Domingo has been part of the 2025 Oscars race for Best Actor for some time thanks to Sing Sing, and his first major win with the Gotham Awards is a telling sign of what is to come. After breaking through into the awards side of Hollywood with Rustin,

Colman Domingo will be honored with the Montecito Award at the 40th Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival for "Sing Sing."

The West Philly native is considered a lock for a best actor nomination at the Oscars and could take home the golden trophy. His main competition at the moment is Adrien Brody ("The Brutalist") and Ralph Fiennes ("Conclave"), according to Hollywood awards predictor Gold Derby.

Sing Sing is coming back to theaters. The A24 theater drama, led by Colman Domingo and Clarence Maclin, is receiving a theatrical re-release this January.

Every cast and crew member on "Sing Sing" was paid the same as Colman Domingo and Kwedar went inside a prison in search of healing.

There was also a surprise winner in the top category, best feature, which was won by A Different Man.

Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet and Angelina Jolie were among the stars who were presented with tribute awards during the ceremony.
