The museum covers art, history, and natural history, so there is a ton to see. I was especially impressed with the thoughtfully designed interactive stations throughout the museum, like one about how… Full review by Santa_Cruz_Jenny

Very well curated, large museum situated on three floors. Allow at least two hours as there is a lot to see. Dorothea Lange collection is a must! Full review by Trip37477876710

They have free teacher days several times a year. They just had one a few weeks ago for the Dia de los Muertos exhibit and they mentioned they were planning two more this year (one winter, one spring). So get on their email list. These nights are typically on Fridays after school. The museum provided snacks plus tokens for the food trucks and a drink, they have various presenters there, too. Most museums in the Bay Area have at least one free teacher day each year. Sometimes you can bring a guest, some not. Also, people are incorrect that they do not have an educator discount - they do have a special educator rate for museum memberships (I just pulled out my card and checked). I can't remember how much I paid (maybe $55/year?).
Q:
Which Bart station is the closest to the museum?
A:
The Lake Merritt BART station is only a couple blocks from the Oakland Museum. When you exit the BART station head towards the hills and you are walking in the right direction.
Q:
Is it open on Sunday July 2nd 2016
A:
Never again.
