Where can I find a floorplan which tells me what is on display? Can't find one on the website. 'Search the collection' doesn't reveal what's on display and what isn't. I'll have 2 hours free in Manchester and want to see 18th & 19th century British art. The Whitworth reputedly has a lot, but is it on the walls? Reviews suggest not.
A:
Currently a display of prints. Some wallpaper. Some Islamic textiles. No 18th 19th C painting and a floor plan is available on the front desk as yoiu go in.
Q:
Who is the gallery named after
A:
see Wikipedia, but the museum is in Whitworth park, and one of the benefactors was Joseph Whitworth f This tells you all. f
Q:
Is there parking nearby?
A:
The Greenheys car park, just off Denmark Road, barely two blocks from the Whitworth, is lovely. £1/hour, with a parking attendant.
Q:
How much does it cost to visit the gallery?
A:
Free! Wouldn't bother with cafe...there are small supermarkets/greens nearby...
